Day 35: Matsuyama City (“Rest” Day)

The “Botchan” Clock inspired by Natsume Soseki’s comic novel “Botchan” (1906). On the hour, music starts playing and the clock unfolds revealing scenes and characters from the book.

The parade itself lasted about ten minutes. Of course, there were about 10 minutes of speeches by local officials before the parade even began.

Dogo Onsen. One of the oldest operating public baths in Japan and design inspiration for the bath house in “Spirited Away”. Unfortunately, the exterior is undergoing some heavy reconstruction, so it’s covered. And it’s night.
