Day 40: Temples 60 and 63

Breakfast at Business Ryokan Komatsu

Not a lot of pictures today. It was raining most of the day and, as we were on mountain paths most of the morning, we were in full rain gear. It’s a pain pulling out my iPhone camera from a pant’s pocket under a pair of rain pants under a poncho and then have to put it back again. While the iPhone is very water resistant, once the screen gets wet it also becomes very unresponsive.

    1. Hi, Christine, I think I got my pizza cravings out of my system when we had pizza between Temples 37 and 38 three weeks(?!) ago. However, I still have yet to satisfy my hamburger cravings. The one we had in Sukumo did not cover it. Connor agrees on missing a good hamburger. Ice cream, chocolate, pasta, bread/pastries have all been handled by various restaurants and the convenience stores. I am still missing a steady supply of good craft beer. It’s only the mass market lagers that I have easy access to without going to a liquor store and buying a full six pack which I would then have to lug around until its was finished. (And, no, I’m not drinking a full six pack in one evening and then walk 15 miles the next day.)

  2. I like how the people who run the temples allow moss to grow on things. The temples feel much more integrated with nature than their Christian counterparts.

  3. Billiam,
Pizza and pasta and Craft beers will always be here waiting for you. I know I’ve already said it but I am very very envious of the meals you’ve been posting.
